
We need to secure our pdf files to open it by unsecured authorities, for that we protect or encrypt our documents. There are 2 ways to protect our pdf file in adobe acrobat pro CC.
In first method we restrict to edit our pdf document. Here file will open in the acrobat, will can see the file read the content, but we will not be able to edit in any way in the restricted edited document. So finally, we can only view not edit this document.
In second method we protect our pdf file to open with or Encrypt it with a password. Without password will not be open the pdf file.
- Restrict Editing Method:
1. Open the document you want to restrict it for editing.
2. As shown in the below picture check the right side with word "Protect" as marked (2.)

3. Click on the protect the icon will turn to as marked (3.) then click on "Restrict Editing" link marked (4.) in the picture.
4. A popup to enter a permissions password will appear. Enter the passwords and click Ok.

5. Will ask for saving the document, click ok, without saving the document it will not restrict the file for Editing.
- Password protected file
1. Click on Protect icon as shown in picture as pointing in (2.)
2. Click on Encrypt as pointing in (5.) and then click on 2nd point "Encrypt with Password"

3. A popup with Sure confirmation will appear Click OK. A new setting popup will appear now.
4. Click the first checkbox "Require a password to open the document".
5. "Document Open Password" text box will be activated, fill the proper password.
6. You can set more permissions next to it and finally click Ok
7. fill the password again and click Ok. Save the document, close and open the document to check it.
